The ION Arcon Knee Pad project’s goals were to design a L2 CE certified knee protector for the mountain bike market. The product needed to provide exceptional protection, comfort and ventilation while utilising RE ZRO’s biodegradable impact protection material.
Design By Datum worked alongside ION’s design team and RE ZRO’s engineers to produce an innovative product which not only surpassed its performance targets but won a prestigious design award at Eurobike 2023.
We took the design from initial concept, through several rounds of iterative development testing out the fit, feel and function of the product using 3D prints and rapid prototyped parts.
Design by Datum’s expertise in high performance, ergonomic part design coupled perfectly with ION’s vast knowledge of what riders want and need resulting in a production ready design users love to wear.
